PULAPula is in the south-east of Sardinia, where there're vert nice beaches: the small bay in front of the island of San Macario, Nora beach, located in the ruins of a Punic-Roman town. This archaeological area is called Nora, near to the cape of Pula. Here there's a tower builtby the Spanish in the XVI century to defend from pirates atacks. The excavations began in 1889, when it was discovered a punic tophet aftre a stormy-sea. It was possible to know that Nora was an important Punic landing place between the VII and the VI century BC. Then Nora was conquered by the Carthaginians and under Carthage, it became the most important centre of the island, the capital.Still today it's possible to admire the temple of Tanit, the goddess of fertility.The city was lived till the Middle Age, then it was impossible because of the presence of the pirates.Leaving Pula, there's the long beach of Santa Margherita di Pula, with grren pine forests, very loved locality by the tourists.Moving in direction of Capo Teulada, there's the famous Baia Chia beach, with its dunes and its juniper trees.On the shoulders of this beach there's a lagoon with several species of migrant birds, especially in winter.A promontory with a Spanish tower rises above all the bay. The littoral continue to Capo Spartivento, with nice beaches, sandy dunes and pine forest.In direction of Capo Teulada there's Sant'Anna Arresi, small centre between the beach and the mines. In the main square there's the only nuraghe of the Sulcis, set between a church of the nineteenth century and a modern one, every year stage of an important jazz festival.Way to PulaFrom Porto Torres, Carlo Felice 131 to Cagliari(about 200 km). Before arriving to Cagliari there's the roadsign to Pula.Take s.s. 195 to Pula. After Pula, at 33 km, 400(milestone 33/IV), take the junction on the left , there's a roadsign which indicates Srtada dei Pianeti, with asphalted road. Go ahead and find a roadsign to Comunione dei Pianeti.
